Zac Gomes

About Me

Hello, I’m Zac Gomes. I’ve always had more ideas than I knew what to do with — so I finally built a place to put them.

I’m a curious overthinker and longtime under‑doer who’s finally giving the “doer” part a real shot. After more than ten years teaching Science — sparking curiosity, creativity, and the occasional identity crisis in students — I realised I’d spent a decade encouraging others to explore ideas while quietly ignoring my own.

So I built Go Me Studio: a home for the thoughts, jokes, stories, sounds, and sparks that used to stay in my head.

People often describe me as understated or introverted, which makes it all the more fun when they discover I also do stand‑up comedy, love performing, and play the tongue drum. (If you haven’t heard one, a tongue drum is a hollow steel‑cast instrument with laser‑cut tongues that produce one of the most serene sounds imaginable. Like me, it’s a bit of a contradiction — quiet, calming, and unexpectedly expressive.

I love making people laugh, telling stories, and learning about the stories of others. Yet my favourite moments in teaching are when a student goes from confusion to clarity — when they stop asking “Why do we need to learn this?” and suddenly realise, “Hey… I learnt something!” When they recognise they’re capable, curious, and learning on their own terms.

For a long time, I lived by the phrase: “You are your harshest critic and your biggest cheerleader.”   Except I spent years stuck in the critic role — perfecting, polishing, hesitating, overthinking.

Eventually I asked myself, “What’s the worst that could happen if I do this?” On a comedy stage, the answer is simple: no one laughs and everyone forgets you. And honestly? That’s not even that bad. It’s basically a creative reset button. That realisation gave me permission to try, fail, try again, and embrace a new mantra: Practice makes progress.

Now, Go Me Studio is where I turn curiosity into content. It’s a creative hub for teachers, students, and fellow makers — a bridge between science and storytelling, between learning and laughter, between “I wonder…” and “I made this.”

I hope that when people visit this space, they feel inspired to be their own cheerleader. To follow their ideas. To try the thing. To take the stage. To say “Go me!” and actually mean it.

And if you’re here because you’re curious, creative, or just a fan of a good pun — welcome. You’re in the right place.
